Conditionally Display Favorite Button If Post has Been Favorited

I am trying to display the Favorite button per user only if it has not been clicked by that user. So if the user had not marked a post as favorite then they will see the button, if they have favorited the post then they will not see the button.
I have tried using meta data as well as some of the plugin functions but cannot get the conditional statement to check if the current user has favorited the current post.
