• I had this plugin configured on a ton of sites and apparently the configuration got lost on all of them after the latest update. Also got a lot of sites with Contact Form 7 installed which now requires a premium subscription.

I don’t mind paying for a plugin at all, but moving a prominent free feature to premium is not the way to get me to buy. Its the way to make me look for a better alternative, especially after the upgrade process hasn’t gone smoothly.

    Hello @koen12344

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

As such support for Contact Form 7 was never a free feature, as clearly marked in previous plugin updates through a banner in the plugin config.

We also announced these breaking changes in the release notes, changelog and also the support forum. However, now we are understanding that it’s not enough. We didn’t think this change would have such an impact on so many websites.

In fact today we will be reversing the change and instead announce a “breaking change date” so users have the time to take the necessary actions.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this issue might have caused. Later on today we will be releasing an update that addresses this. So if you wait a few more hours, everything will be restored.

Thank you for your support and for using our plugin.

Hi @robert681, thanks for following up. Seeing the configuration lost on all of the sites got me quite worked up, hence the review, not the best moment to push a premium feature…

Looks like the 7.0.3 update thankfully restored the configuration on the websites. It would’ve been a nightmare to have to reconfigure all of the sites. This is one of those set-and-forget plugins that just works. Hence I doubt many users will check the changelog, support forum, or even the plugin settings page for that matter.

I’m unclear about the CF7 support, the forms are configured using the [anr_nocaptcha g-recaptcha-response] shortcode described in the instruction page and not using a “One-click configuration” mentioned in the upsell. Will this feature also no longer be available in the free version?

    You’re welcome @koen12344

Quick question – do you have the plugin installed on a multisite network? Another user reported an issue with lost config and we found the issue, but on multisite network. We do not have such reports so far on single site installs.

Regarding the plugin update, yes, we reverted the changes. However, on the 15th of March the features will be permanently removed from the free edition, as originally planned. However, this time users will get a big notification and also a few weeks, to give them the chance to take the necessary action.

The “one-click configuration” will be available in the Premium edition of the plugin. It is a feature that was never available before – users had to manually enter the shortcode.

I hope the above answers all your questions. Should you require any more information please do not hesitate to ask.

    Have a great weekend.
