configure custom results for races

    Hi – thanks for this plugin it’s awesome.

    I’m trying to use it for my local sailing club – we need to configure for 20 helmsmen (players) to compete in a race and then the results are 1st (score 1 point), 2nd (score 2 points), 3rd (score 3 points), etc

    Please can you give me some advice on how to configure this… Should the outcomes be 1st (most primary), 2nd, 3rd, …. 20th (least primary)? As for the results I’m not sure what to enter, and er, what is the variable field for?!

    OK, so my outcomes are:

    win (score 1 point), 2nd (score 2 points), 3rd (score 3 points), 4th (score 4 points), etc up to 20 competitors (players).
    and also a ‘discard’ outcome (points are discounted and don’t count towards total)

    So for an individual race I would have an equation of:

    Race points=( (win*1)+(2nd*2)+(3rd*3)+(4th*4)+(5th*5)+(nth*n) )(discard*0)
    so if a player came 5th but result was discarded they’d end up with 0.
    Am i right that if we don’t select ‘discard’ outcome for a player, then this equation won’t multiply everything by 0?

    Also, I’m not sure where to enter this equation to show results for players – do I put it in ‘events results’, ‘table columns’, or ‘player statistics’? Because I would like the results to show up in scorecard for each race event, and then total up for all players for the season.
    Also should I be using the ‘Player Performance’ section or not? I’m getting confused!

    Any help on this would be massively appreciated – I have immense baby brain (3 month old baby + 2 year old) and despite being a chemistry graduate I can’t seem to comprehend basic maths functions lately… Thank you in advance for the rescue!

    So you’d order from the one with less points to the one with the most points?

    That’s correct. You’ll need to select it either way (as you have a lot of different scenarios) but the discarding option needs to be selected

    That equation is for your results table, isn’t it? You’ll need to create a new even outcome for each position so you can selct them (it’s not just win/lose/draw, for example, is 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on).

    In short I believe your biggest problem is setting up the outcomes (so you can actually “tell” the plugin the position for each of your players) and the math is pretty much what you’ve described above (as long as you want to order like golf, player with less points comes first).
