• There appears to be a conflict between the “Theme My Login” (v7.0.9) and “Google Authenticator – Per User Prompt” (v0.7) plugins. “Google Authenticator – Per User Prompt” (along with the required “Google Authenticator” (v0.48) plugin) was working fine on my site with “Theme My Login” for months. Now, recently, when an admin logs in with their user name and password, they are redirected to a URL like this:

    https://www.companionsoftware.com/login/?action=gapup_token&user_id=1234&gapup_login_nonce=124f6462f54ddc8ef8a8f8de272f1234&redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.companionsoftware.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&remember_me=forever

where they see the website Home page instead of the per-user “Goggle Authenticator” form that we usually see.

If I disable just the “Theme My Login” plugin, then “Google Authenticator – Per User Prompt” works properly. And if I disable just the “Google Authenticator – Per User Prompt”, then the “Google Authenticator code” field appears on the “Theme My Login” login form. But if they are all enabled, then the problem appears.

If I had to guess, the problem may stem from the “Theme My Login” plugin’s recent support of the new “2FA” (Two Factor Authentication) extension. Perhaps this support / hook is where the conflict is.

  • Hello Larry,

Regarding your guess, have you tried using an older version of TML that don’t have 2FA support?

I don’t find anything about it in the changelog though.
