    Hello Wordfence Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue with CAPTCHA integration on my website. I am using the “WP Image CAPTCHA” plugin for the login page. The problem arises when the Wordfence Login Security plugin is activated:

    Problem Description:

    • Google reCAPTCHA is not enabled in the Wordfence settings.
    • Despite this, the “WP Image CAPTCHA” does not appear on the login page when Wordfence is active.
    • When Wordfence is deactivated, “WP Image CAPTCHA” works perfectly.

Steps Taken to Resolve the Issue:

    • I have removed the Google reCAPTCHA Site Key and Secret from the Wordfence settings.
    • I have cleared the cache on both the server side and in the browser.
    • I attempted to manually dequeue the relevant reCAPTCHA scripts and styles through the functions.php file.
    • All settings in Wordfence have been configured to disable reCAPTCHA.

Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue. I would like to know if there is a way to resolve this conflict so that I can use WP Image CAPTCHA without any issues.

Thank you in advance for your support!

    Best regards

    Hi @bulls_shark,

Thanks for reaching out. Wordfence Login Security is primarily made for the default WordPress login flow with added compatibility with WooCommerce. We have seen features fail to work on custom login forms generated by other themes and plugins.

Can you try loading the page while keeping a Browser Console open to see if you can detect any JavaScript errors or files that fail to load? If you see any red text in the console, please take a screenshot of it and send it to me and I will help you interpret the errors.

    Thanks,
    Margaret

Hello Margaret, thanks for the feedback. It looks like all the data is being sent without any problems.

To me it seems like your plugin is overlaying the image captcha.

    Hi @bulls_shark,

Thanks for following up. Since it modifies the default WordPress login form, we ultimately can’t guarantee compatibility between Wordfence Login Security and WP Image CAPTCHA.

It’s good to see that the JavaScript files for both plugins are included successfully. In the browser console, are you seeing any JavaScript errors or any reports of a file failing to load?

Please let me know what you see in the browser console while logging in. If you want to avoid posting screenshots of your website here, please feel free to email those to wftest @ wordfence . com. Include your forum username in the subject and let me know here when you’ve sent them.

    Thanks,
    Margaret

    Hi @bulls_shark,

Thanks for sending the site URL over. I took a look and didn’t see any JavaScript or other errors in the browser console, but I’m not able to log in to see if errors are generated during the login process. Can you please test that and let me know if you see any errors?

Ultimately, Wordfence may not be compatible with WP Image CAPTCHA’s login functionality and you may need to continue with the plugin that works best for your needs. Currently, our login security elements are designed with the default WordPress and WooCommerce login and registration pages in mind and may not work as expected with other third-party login plugins or custom pages.

Please let me know how it goes,
    Margaret

    Hi Margaret,

Thank you for your feedback. Currently, there are no error messages. The design has only been adjusted via CSS. When I disable Wordfence Login Security, the WP Image CAPTCHA is displayed without any issues.

Are there any other solutions or suggestions that I could pass on to the developer of WP Image CAPTCHA to improve compatibility with Wordfence?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Hi @bulls_shark,

Unfortunately, since the free version of WP Image CAPTCHA doesn’t add a CAPTCHA on the login page, we’re not able to reproduce the issue for further testing.

I’ve spoken with the team, and the JavaScript for WP Image CAPTCHA is targeting an element with the class cf7ic-loader, but there isn’t an element with that class on your login page. We aren’t able to confirm how the plugin would normally work, so this may be something to address with the plugin developer.

From the login page URL, we suspect you’re also using the plugin Solid Security. It may be worth testing the CAPTCHA with Solid Security disabled temporarily, just in case the conflict arises due to the interaction of all three plugins.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can assist with!

Hello wfmargaret, I use the Pro version of “WP Image CAPTCHA”. Would it help if the developer contacted you via email: wftest @ wordfence . com?

The Solid Security plugin was deactivated for testing purposes, unfortunately without success here either.

    Thanks for the support

    Hi @bulls_shark,

Thanks for checking the Solid Security plugin. If the WP Image CAPTCHA plugin developer would like to contact us to check for any conflicts with the pro plugin, please have them email us at genbiz @ wordfence . com. Please have them include a link to this forum topic as well.

    Thanks,
    Margaret
