Conflict with Akismet stops form submission

    There seems to be a conflict with Akismet, causing some form submissions to fail. After submitting, a vanilla red error message shows (“Something went wrong”) and the submission is not recorded. Once we deactivate Akismet, it works.

    Looking at our website error logs, I see a ‘PHP warning: Array to string conversion‘:

    PHP Warning: Array to string conversion in /var/www/html/ec/ecosacramento.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/forminator/library/protection/class-akismet.php on line 98, referer: https://www.ecosacramento.net/sacearthday/participate-in-sac-earth-day/exhibitor-registration/

    Since that’s only a warning, I don’t know if it’s the cause of the error, but it may provide a clue.

    Akismet was last updated a couple months ago. The last Forminator update was a few days ago. This problem only showed up yesterday, so perhaps it has to do with the latest Forminator update.

    I hope you’re well today and thank you for contacting us!

    Yes, there’s a bug identified that causes it (interestingly, in some cases it only happens intermittently rather than upon each and every submission). Our Forminator Team is already aware of it and developers are looking for the fix but I don’t have ETA yet.

    Unfortunately, for now a workaround is only

    – either downgrading Forminator to one of previous versions (that worked fine for you)

    – or disabling Akismet integration in form’s “Behavior” settings

    Has WPMU fixed the bug you mentioned yet?

    I checked in our internal task tracking system and I see that this specific issue is still in the backlog and waiting for resolution. I also see that your ticket has been added there to notify the developers that you’ve also experienced this issue.

    As my colleague mentioned, we currently don’t have an ETA for the fix.
