Well… it looked as if this plug-in could be exactly what I needed but unfortunately I’ve found a conflict with Buddypress ie. when your plugin is activated and a user tries to upload a new profile image the upload seems to fail.

Users have no problem uploading images elsewhere on the site and I’m really struggling to see what might be the connection between the code required to upload a profile image and displaying a sitewide announcement! I’m clutching at straws but perhaps something to do with the way the js is loaded perhaps?

If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I would be very grateful to hear them.

    With many thanks in advance.

Thank you for getting back to me Michiel.

I did a bit more investigation on this myself and the issue seems to be coming from the frontend/build/free.js file.

For now at least, I’ve got around this by tweaking the code so that the js doesn’t get loaded on the Buddypress profile pages. Obviously this means the announcements don’t get shown on the profile pages either, but this isn’t a major issue since they’re still visible everywhere else. That said, of course, if you can come up with a more permanent solution even better…

    Regards
    Nik
