Recently I needed to set up several sites and used Widget Importer and Exporter to speed up the process. It worked very well; however, now the sidebar will not accept an additional Featured Page widget (using a Genesis child theme).

Instead of allowing me to add an additional Featured Page widget, it replaces one of the existing Featured Page widgets.

I suspect Widget Importer and Exporter to be the problem because on one of the sites, simply reinstalling and reactivating Widget Importer and Exporter plugin solved the problem. Unfortunately, that fix isn’t working on all of the sites.

Is there some way I can undo whatever WI&E did when I set up the sites? Thanks.

    Hi Ischuo,

There was a bug in Widget Importer & Exporter 1.0 that could cause what you are seeing. It was fixed a few weeks ago with version 1.0.1 so the solution for you should be to update to the latest version of the plugin, delete the widgets you previously imported with it, then re-import those widgets. Widgets imported with the new version should not have the same issue.

    Thanks, Steven!

I did discover that deleting those widgets and adding them back (just dragging fresh widgets back rather than importing them) fixed the issue for that sidebar. But I’ll be sure to update the plugin and re-import if the need arises. Thanks for the plugin. It definitely saves a ton of time.
