• Hi,

I’ve recently installed the Social Pug plugin on many client sites, and we’ve found a (likely) conflict with the Google Tag Manager plugin, which is installed on three sites.

When we click on the sharing links (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), the correct popup window opens to share. However, the blog post itself also redirects to the sharing screen. That shouldn’t be changing.

So far, we’ve only seen this behavior on sites that also have the GTM4WP plugin installed.

We’ve talked with the Social Pug developer, but he has been unable so far to pinpoint the issue, so I’m hoping you can help.

Any troubleshooting steps you can recommend?

    Thanks!

    Hi Andrew,

You have some custom HTML tags in your GTM container, have you checked them whether they could be conflicting with those buttons?

You can enter a dummy container ID in plugin settings, like GTM-XXXXXX

If you save this, of course this container will not be loaded and also no custom script from inside your live container. If share buttons start to work, you can be sure that the issue is within your GTM container in a custom HTML tag or in a custom JS variable.
