Hi there. I notified the devs for the Ultimate Posts plugin as well.

I use the Ultimate Posts plugin/widget (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ultimate-posts-widget/ ) on over a dozen websites, because it’s so excellently flexible and customizable. On all sites, I heavily use the categories filter. Many of these sites use Events Manager as well.

I just discovered for the first time that Ultimate Posts widget feeds fail to filter categories specifically on Events Manager-authored single events. I tested this out on 3 different websites using 3 different themes, and in each case, the same thing happens:

–Using a shared sidebar, Ultimate Posts filters categories properly on regular pages and posts and also on the Events Manager event listings page.

–Clicking into a single event post causes this shared widget to go a bit kablooey, and suddenly the filter settings for the widget are ignored and all categories of posts display.

Temporary example (this site is being developed and using a temp theme): please see left sidebar for “Recent posts” correctly filters categories:

Single event post, failing to filter categories and displaying all:

Again, I’ve contacted the developers of Ultimate Posts, as the conflict is manifesting on their widget, but as it’s only happening on EM event posts, it seems likely that it’s related to the post template code being generated by EM.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    hi,

maybe it’s because EM is using custom taxonomy for events categories and does Ultimate Posts supports custom taxonomies ?

    Hi, Angelo.

Ultimate Posts does (I think!) support custom taxonomies. It lists them along with other post types in their filter options. I think it would filter/display them, not that I’ve tried….

It may be true, though, that the widget fails to function *from* a custom taxonomy type page. Since it’s not filtering standard categories when displayed from an event page. It works just fine from the events listing page.

I think I’ll test out adding a UP widget to a (non-Events Manager) custom taxonomy post type to see if the same thing happens.

Yep, you’re right. I just tried out a post using a different custom taxonomy that was already set up, and sure enough! The filter fails here, too.

Thanks for helping narrow the issue down.
