I have several sites using CF7 along with the comment blacklist plugin, however using that comment blacklist (which is very long), often seems to bring back false positives – contact form submissions are marked as spam.

If I remove the blacklist contents, the false positives disappear

I have raised that with the dev and he has removed some of the more general phrases, but he seems to think the issue is a conflict with CF7, rather than a match on the blacklist. To support this, sometimes I have had tests fail, but then can’t find a match in the comment blacklist.

Here’s the discussion we have had on github about this issue:

Is there anything you can think of with CF7 having an issue with a very long blacklist?

As the maintainer of the aforementioned blacklist, I have been discussing this issue with Dan for a number of months.

As part of my troubleshooting, I have tried cutting back the blacklist by thousands of lines at a time to see if there was a specific section of terms that might have been causing the issue.

Based on my testing, I believe that it has too do with the size of the blacklist itself and not any specific term or phrase included in the data.

I’m happy to perform additional tests if it helps solve this issue.
