I just bought WatuPRO, a quiz plugin. It turned out, that there is a conflict with Relevanssi which prevents WordPress saving the page. According to the developer of WatuPRO the problem is on the side of Relevanssi. It seems that Relevanssi executes shortcodes on saving the page, which is considered not correct (bad programming style).

I am not a programmer or expert in these things, so I cannot decide. But please could you have a look into this issue and tell me your opinion and what you think has to be done?

Yes, Relevanssi needs to execute the shortcodes when saving the page, because otherwise it can’t index the shortcode content. That’s not bad programming style. If WatuPRO short codes are done in good programming style, there should be no conflict =)

Anyway, for a quick fix, disable shortcode expansion in Relevanssi settings. That should remove the conflict. What is the shortcode WatuPRO is using that’s causing the conflict? I can add it to the Relevanssi shortcode blocklist in the next version, so there’s no need to disable shortcode expansion completely.

Thank you so much for your fast reply. Thanks also for the tip with the quick fix. I checked it and it worked!

The problem arises when in WatuPRO live mode (examen mode) is turned on and you want to save a WordPress page with a WatuPRO shortcode [watupro #]. # stands for a number which refers to a quiz in live mode. (Refering to a quiz in practice mode does not generate an error.)

Ok, I’ll add [watupro] to the list of shortcodes Relevanssi ignores in indexing, that should solve this one for good.
