Hi, just getting started with Postie and looks great – however…

My website uses an SMTP server which is configured in wp-config & functions.php. I then set up an independant Gmail account for Postie which works but my now WordPress installation is unable to send out emails.

It seems like Postie overrides my default SMTP. If I share the same account for both, then the super secret Postie Gmail is used for all site communications which isn’t what I want.

I saw there’s a ‘postie_preconnect’ filter but unsure if this addresses the problem.

Am I missing something or do I have to choose one over the other?

    Thanks

That seems odd as Postie doesn’t care how you configure SMPT as Postie doesn’t use SMTP.

    Thanks Wayne.

Your reply got me to do some debugging on phpmailer only to find it was a problem on my mail server side. Once I sorted that out, I’m happy to confirm I’ve now got my SMTP mail running alongside Postie. There is no conflict.
