If the Woocommerce plugin is active, a user with only subscriber permissions cannot create a new event (turns to profile page). Although it is clearly put in the Events-manager preferences that he should.
All other user types are able to do so indeed.

    All latest versions.
    Site in dev, not online.

    Any help much appreciated,
    Pieter

did you already tried user capabilities settings under Events > Settings > Genera > User Capabilities ?

    Thanks for looking into this.
Yes the settings should be right; that’s what I meant with preferences.
A subscriber can publish, delete, edit, and read private events.

sorry but we are having some hardtime replicating this issue and seems working fine on our test sites; however, just to narrow down the problem and help us debug the issue is it possible to try the following temporarily:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

also, are you using frontend event submission form or frontend event management page?

FYI, we are successfully having subscribers submit events while also using WooCommerce on our site. Might indicate it’s more likely to be another conflict?

    Thanks.
I already tried with the standard theme Twenty sixteen, and all plugins deactivated, except Events Manager and Woocommerce.
    Problem persists.
I am not working with a frontend submission form, just a link to mysite/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=event or …event-recurring
Works perfectly for all other user roles, except subscribers. Even those with the same permissions in Events Manager prefs.
    Hmm … weird.
Running out of ideas where to look.

Subscribers lack the “manage_options” from WordPress, which overrules the EM capabilities.

Linking them to any Admin Edit page, will need those permissions.

Wow Patrick, that sounds right. ??
I never used the front end submissions.
Now it works well and will be easier also for users input.

Angelo was probably also thinking in that direction.

(Funny enough, I was convinced that it worked until some time ago with subscribers from the admin page. But now that appears to be impossible. Never mind.)

    Thank you all. Much appreciated.
    Pieter
