After updating from 3.0.6 to 4.0.1 one site went down with a 500 error, what appeared to be a conflict with the plugin “WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional” from WP Overnight (Ewout Fernhout). The site was still running version 2.2.2, but also the most recent version 2.2.5 has the same issue.

The error:
Backend fatal error: PHP Fatal error: Declaration of GuzzleHttp\\Client::send(Psr\\Http\\Message\\RequestInterface $request, array $options = Array) must be compatible with _PhpScoper5b6804f9734c8\\GuzzleHttp\\ClientInterface::send(_PhpScoper5b6804f9734c8\\Psr\\Http\\Message\\RequestInterface $request, array $options = Array) in /home/********/public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-pdf-ips-pro/dropbox/vendor/guzzlehttp/guzzle/src/Client.php on line 25\n

I’m not sure if this is something you can solve on your end (because you changed the Guzzle thing), but otherwise other users of this plugin are warned. I’ll let my client contact Ewout as well.

I’m looking into the issue but I’m not sure what’s causing this. WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional uses Guzzle 6.3.0 but updating it to 6.3.3 doesn’t solve the issue. Supposedly the conflicts with other plugins using Guzzle have been resolved, but there is no information on what fix was applied.

Thanks for jumping in. I did a rollback of the Mollie plugin on this website, so I’ll wait until you and/or David figure out what the issue is.

It appears that the solution applied (using php-scoper to prefix all namespaces) to resolve the Guzzle conflicts with older versions, actually broke compatibility with plugins running the same version of Guzzle.

I’m afraid I can’t fix this from my end without causing even more issues elsewhere (ie me also using scoper). I will try to contact Mollie directly to see if we can come to a proper solution.

Yes, the solution implemented in the Mollie API PHP (which this plugin uses) was to prefix all namespaces with PHP Scoper.

@ewout could you review this issue and let me know what you think, I think it might be related (are you using composer)?

@davdebcom done! Yes I use composer, I’ll look into patching those function_exists calls.

the function exists call does not seem to be the issue here… as outlined by kikosoft in the github issue, the available patch solutions are not ideal and the PHP Scoper approach does not appear to have properly boxed everything.

It will take some more time to investigate this with Mollie in the Mollie API PHP client. So I reverted the changes. Please update to 4.0.2 which I just released. Also see:
