• I know you might suggest this post should be in the Yoast plugin forum. I am asking here because I use that plugin on every site I create. Recently I noticed that my titles and meta description are not showing properly when my site shows up in a google search. The theme seems to be placing the default, company name and slogan (I don’t use one) into the serp listing. The tab, when on the page, shows the correct title that I entered into the plugin. Can you tell me why this may be happening? Is anyone else experiencing this? It is based on this setup, with this theme, because other sites aren’t reproducing this phenomenon. Help would be appreciated.

Just wondering if you may have come up with anything? You do recommend this SEO plugin and it’s by far the best. Why is it behaving poorly in this theme?

    Hi !
I did not have the time to study this problem yet but I’ll try as soon as possible.

Thank you! I have been trying to figure this out since noticing. My ranking is tanking and I can’t seem to fix it.

I did scour the plugin support page too. Many people are having issues but most are just rookie things. I have been using this plugin for some time. It is definitely behaving differently for some reason in this installation. I just need to narrow down why. There is one box I didn’t try…”force rewrite titles” under the titles and meta tab. I just didn’t have the marbles to try it given the explanation under the checkbox. Could that work?

    Nikeo,

I have been exploring this pretty heavily for the last couple days. I posted the problem to Yoast, but I firmly believe this is a theme issue because thorough testing resulted in only this theme replicating my issue. I will post below exactly what I posted to Yoast. I hope we can figure this out.

    Hello,

I know this forum isn’t the best place for answers to non paid users of the plugin. I am still going to post this, as it may be the same problem others are having without knowing it. I am using the Customizr theme. I use the plugin on every site I develop, but in this installation, I am noticing a quirk.

Recently, I searched my field in my area (web design Oshkosh, WI). I always use Google Chrome, and I always use Google’s search engine. I noticed that it was displaying my “site name” instead of the SEO title that I entered into the plugin. Curious, I opened Firefox, and went to google. The results were as they should be, my proper SEO title in SERP’s. The same went for Internet Explorer. Irritated, I opened Bing and Yahoo in all browsers. In every instance, my titles and meta descriptions were working with 1 exception. Google Chrome browser with the Google search engine resulted in the plugin directives not being followed. I don’t have iPhone or iPad, but my Android phone rendered the same results. Only the Chrome browser with Google’s search engine was ignoring my input.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. It is killing my SEO chances in Chrome with Google. To me, this seems like the most popular combination for someone to use. And yes, I was logged out and had cleared my cache before testing. And, the directives entered into the plugin are not “new”, the same info has been there for months.

    To be clear:
    Browsers tested (all latest build):
    Chrome
    Firefox
    Safari
    Android Browser
    Internet Explorer
    Opera

All were tested with each search engine:
    Google
    Yahoo
    Bing

I would love to hear any input. I also have mentioned this to the theme editor. Thanks Joost!
