    Hello,

I have two issues with the Hansen theme.

The first one is a conflict with mappress, which disables the theme editor due to the error “mappl10n is not defined”.

The second one is that modifications on my main page design are not taken into account. I created a new main page with the gutenberg editor and changed the main page in the theme settings. The text changed, but not the organization of the blocks.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

My bad, not even the text changed, like the main page change was not considered at all.

    Hi,

The 1st issue with the MapPress plugin will be an issue with that plugin, or Gutenberg.

I would recommend you to ask the plugin support, as it their plugin and should be able to help with issues regarding the plugin and compatibility with the Gutenberg site editor.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/mappress-google-maps-for-wordpress/

The 2nd issue, are you editing the page content or the page template?

It is most likely this is an issue either with Gutenberg or with another plugin conflicting with Gutenberg, as with a block theme such as Hansen the theme does not control things such as the editor or even the theme settings.
All this is controlled by the Gutenberg plugin, and the theme only provides styles (colors, fonts etc.) and layout of the templates in the front-end of the site. It has no control over the admin side of things like the page editor.

Please could you let me know the exact steps you took, and I’ll try to recreate the problem to make sure whether it is or isn’t an issue with the theme.

Please also temporarily deactivate all your active plugins (except for Gutenberg), and see if the problem is fixed with all plugins deactivated.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your answer.
I made progress in the investigation also. It looks like it is my fault.
I’ll ask mappress support for the first issue.

I am editing the page content.
    Here are the steps:
I created a new page with blocks and published it. (my current main page was made with the classic editor and i wanted to make a new one with blocks without having to debug the conversion attempts)
I went to the theme settings to choose this new page as main page.
No issue on the editor, but once on the website, no update.
I deleted my cache, tried a new browser, deactivated all plugins, no success.
If i tried to modify the page, the editor was opening with the correct content.

I went back to my first main page and took the time to convert it into blocks. I went to the theme settings again and changed it back. This time no issue. The page was updated.

I don’t know where the issue comes from. It is like there is an error in my new page preventing the update.

    Thanks for the information.

When you say you “went to the theme settings to choose this new page as main page” what are you referring to?

I ask this because there are no theme settings in the Hansen theme such as what you are describing.

On your site I can see you are using a translation plugin that looks like it is serving different variations of each page based on the selected language.
Have you looked into the translation plugin’s options, or it’s support documentation?
It may be that you are seeing a different language version of the page in the editor, to the version you see on the front-end.

Thank you again for your answer,

I’ve checked with the translation plug-in deactivated and it did not help. Moreover, it only changes the text and has no effect on the layout. So, if I was not seeing the right langage page on the front end, i would still see the change in the blocks disposition and the link updates.

What i am saying by “theme settings” is that from my WP dashbord, I go to Appearance -> Theme -> Personnalize -> Main page settings (I am not sure if those are the exact translations)

The settings you describe are the core WordPress settings, and are not part of the theme, so the theme has no control over how this works.

    Things to try:

    1. activate a different full site editing theme such as ‘TT1 Blocks’ or ‘Blockbase’, and see if you still have the same issue.

    2. the Customizer (Personnaliser) is not really used for full site editing themes, and although the link is still there, it probably will be removed in future.
So, can you try setting the homepage in the main settings in your dashboard.
‘Settings’ > ‘Reading’ > ‘Your homepage displays’ > ‘A static page’ > ‘Homepage:’
(‘Réglages’ > ‘Lecture’ > ‘La page d’accueil affiche’ > ‘Une page statique’ > ‘Page d’accueil:’)

    3. de-activate all your active plugins (except Gutenberg) and see if the issue is fixed. If it is OK, then re-activate your plugins one at a time until the problem appears again. With this you will be able to see if there is a plugin issue, and which plugin.

    Thank you for your help.

I’ve tried all the things you proposed. Nothing worked.

I created a whole new page just to give it a try, and put the exact same blocks than the page I have issue with. I have absolutely no problem with this new page.
So i will simply trash the page I have issue with.

Thank you again for all your help! Newbie me learned a lot!

Happy to hear you now have it working with a new page.

Just looking at your site again, I noticed an error with the javascript in the page content that is hiding/protecting an email address written in the content.

I don’t know if that is injected by a plugin or if you have added the javascript directly in the content, but it occured to me that it may be possible that it could be preventing the page from saving in the database. Of course it is possible that it has no effect, but may be worth looking at anyway.

    Thank you again!
I’ll have a look on that script!
