I just purchased an annual Constant Contact plan. I’m coming from a competitor who had a WordPress plugin that worked flawlessly. Every customer was automatically added to my audience and I was able to add up to five products (with pics, prices and descriptions) from my WooCommerce store into an email with one click. My assumption was this was a similar plugin but now I am not sure. Before I vent my disappointment, I have a few questions:

    1. Does this plugin require my WordPress site to be hosted on www.ads-software.com? Nothing I read prior to installing and activating the plugin seemed to indicate that.

    2. I have not been able to successfully connect my WooCommerce store to Constant Contact. Perhaps because I am not hosted on www.ads-software.com?

    3. Is there any documentation ANYWHERE for this plugin? There’s noting in the CC Knowledge base and effectively none here. Moderator responses are pretty much limited to “We’re aware of the problem”.

    Thank you

    Good morning,

    1. The plugin is intended for self hosted WordPress websites as opposed to on wordpress.com through Automattic. That said, we do know that it is possible, with the correct tier plan there, to install custom plugins now.

    2. Potentially, but there could be other issues going on as well that aren’t related to the type of WordPress hosting you have. However, debugging why will be inherently more difficult because of the lack of access to possible debugging methods through wordpress.com. We can go into some deeper support regarding this and checking on connection attempts if needed.

    3. Documentation is still a work in progress but there’s also not a lot to it either. Fill in your store data and save those settings, then a connection button should appear that you can then use to log in and authenticate your account.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I made the connection! More info below.

100% chance I wasn’t clear, sorry. I am not hosting my site on WordPress.com (it’s on Siteground).

When I posted earlier I was getting a 404 error when attempting to complete the final step of the connection process. NB: My site is new and I do not yet have an SSL Certificate.

Eventually, I looked at the URL the plugin created when it was trying to link CC to my site and I noticed that, by default, it was using “https://”. Because I don’t have my certificate yet, I removed the “s” and was able to connect.

Please mark this question as resolved. Thank you.

Edit: Future users should be aware that the store/mail creation integration will not work without an https connection. Everything works fine now.

Welcome, we do what we can.

Awesome to hear that the account connection succeeded now.

Understood on the .com vs self hosted part, better to cover the details than not, just in case.

Good information to know as well, regarding adding our plugin to an existing site, vs one that’s still in the early stages of getting set up. We’ll see what we can do regarding informing new customers ahead of time there.
