Connection Lost Error

  • Over and over again, when writing a blog post, all of a sudden WordPress will give me an error saying:
    Connection lost.    ?Saving has been disabled until you are reconnected.?This post is being backed up in your browser, just in case.

    The connection to my Internet is never lost during this time but I cannot save and wind up having to shut down the computer. But today, when I did it, the lost connection message continued to show.

    Suggestions?

  • I’d start by checking into these, from top down:

    1. Checking for a plugin (esp caching plugins) or theme conflict
    2. Increase PHP Memory limit on the server
    3. Check if WordPress Heartbeat needs to be limited, this can be done using something like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/heartbeat-control/ to decrease how often autosave runs
    4. Check your hosting account to see if you’re exhausting the CPU limit or other resources
