Connection timeout in wp-admin

Hello,
I’m experiencing connection timeouts in the wp-admin pages after installing the slideshow plugin. Practically all of the wp-admin pages load very slowly and display the following error:
Connection timed out after 5005 milliseconds
I don’t have this when I deactivate the plugin. I also have a local wordpress installation where I don’t have this problem. I hope this can be solved.
