So I’m having a weird issue. My dashboard (or even the login page) will not load ONLY on my network. Works fine for other people and even on my phone when I’m not connected to my home network. (Looks to be the same issue as https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/website-wont-load-on-my-computernetwork/ except that was closed resolved with no resolution.)

-I have WordPress multi-site running 4.7.2; 2 websites running off of it.
-I can NOT access one of the 2 sites from my PC.
-I can NOT access the login page (to get to the dashboard) for either site on my PC. (ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)
-I can (as well as many others in different locations) access both sites and dashboards while NOT connected to my home internet network. (e.g. on my phone, or from another computer on a different internet connection).

-I’m running Windows 10, with Avast Anti virus. Recreated issue in all browsers (IE, FF, Chrome)
    -I have cleared my cache
    -flushed my dns (ipconfig -flushdns)
    -rebooted the computer many times.
-rebooted the internet modem many times.
-tried turning off Avast, repeating above.

It is also worth noting this occurred while I was working. I installed (network install for multisite)
    -Twenty Seventeen theme
    -Advanced Code Editor plugin
    -The Events Calendar plugin
-The Events Calendar Category Colors plugin
    -Edit Flow plugin
-I was just about to start setting up/configuring the above plugins when I got a time out trying to load the dashboard main page (ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT). So I refreshed. Same thing. Did the above troubleshooting. Looked around and the only thing I could find was the link from the top of my post.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any tips? I’m totally lost. I mean I can go to a coffee shop or library to keep working, but I like my home office much better. Plus I’d like to figure out why this is happening. For my own sanity, and possibly the sanity of others.

    Thanks for reading!

I also found this topic: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/admin-display-and-functionality-not-working-properly/

But I am not with GoDaddy. Also it’s been about 11 hours now since the issue started.

I should also mention ftp connections have the same issue, so I’m not able to do much technical troubleshooting. Thanks all!

I am assuming that the copy of the site you are working on is hosted on a server, correct? As in not a localhost.

If you can access the site from the “problem laptop” while connected to a different network, then the issue may lie within your network setup.

I see you noted that you rebooted the modem, do you have a router as part of your setup? I recommend doing a full power cycle of the router and modem. You may have better luck reaching out to your ISP.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is a hosted server.

I do no have a router (wifi built into the modem)

My ISP said they can’t do anything or help troubleshoot as it would not be from their end, but after a factory reset of the modem the problem still exists.

The only culprit left is my machine itself, but I can load the wordpress admin on a my local machine, as well as my other wordpress sites (also hosted).

    I’m stumped :\

Are you trying to access the dashboard through https://yoursite.com/wp-admin or https://yoursite.com/wp-login.php? Try both and see what happens.

You mentioned that this happened while installing plugins…have you tried disabling all the plugins via FTP? Go to your files via FTP and rename the plugin folder “plugin_old” then try logging in. Revert the plugin folder back to “plugins”. At this point they should all be deactivated. See if the problem persists, then turn the plugins back on one by one until you find the problem plugin (if this is indeed a plugin issue).

    I had tried both yes.

Today, it’s now working. I didn’t do anything. Literally nothing. Super weird.

    Thanks for the replies!

In case anyone else runs into this issue, I cleared my browsing history and that solved it.
