I had a wordpress.com site which was successfully connected to a Facebook page. We recently moved the site to a self-hosted WordPress with the JetPack plugin. The JetPack plugin on the self-hosted site is registered to the same user on wordpress.com as the original site, and both sites show up in My Sites on wordpress.com.

I went to the connections tab on the wordpress.com site and disconnected from Facebook.

I then went to the Business Integrations page on Facebook and removed the JetPack app from that page.

The on the new self-hosted site, I went to the sharing settings in JetPack and tried to connect to Facebook.

I got a page from Facebook saying “you’ve previously connected with JetPack, do you want to continue?” I hit the Continue button.

I then get the message “The request couldn’t be completed, please close this window and try again.”

This happens even in a private browsing window so I don’t have stale cookies or anything.

    Hi @justdave,

    ?Let’s try some troubleshooting steps:

    1. Ensure that you’re using the most recent version of Jetpack and that your WordPress installation is up to date.
    2. Clear the browser cache and Facebook app’s cache to ensure there aren’t any stored conflicting data.
    3. Make sure that the Facebook page you are trying to connect to is a business page and that you have admin rights to it.

If the connection still fails after these steps, could you please post your site URL here so that we can have a look? If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.

    Thank you!
