Hi,

I’m using the latest WordPress / Jetpack versions. XML-RPC is enabled, Jetpack is actually connected. However, I’m getting connectivity issues regardless?

1. WP health status shows “WPCOM CONNECTION TEST” – error 200. When I click on “We recommend reconnecting Jetpack.” I get “There was an error reconnecting Jetpack. Error: Error establishing a database connection”

2. Your online debug tool shows “Debug Communication error. We were unable to make an XML-RPC request to your website.”

Again, Jetpack IS connected in dashboard, that is what is totally confusing to me.

The site is on Cloudflare but it is paused. As you can see for yourself, XMLRPC is accessible.

I already tried to reinstall and reconnect Jetpack, the errors are still there. I also tried to switch to a default theme and deactivate all the plugins, there is no conflict.

Any ideas what might be the issue?

Hi @soulstudio

Can you reach out to your host and ask them if the PHP XML extension is installed and active on your server? If it’s not installed PHP won’t be able to parse XML, which will result in the error being reported.

The current PHP extensions are present:

libxml
xml
xmlreader
xmlrpc
xmlwriter

Thanks for checking up on those PHP extensions!

I noticed that we were still connected to your site using an alternative way to do so when there are issues with the xmlrpc.php. However, we are no longer seeing issues with connecting to that xmlrpc.php file and I’m not seeing a clear connection from our side:

This should now be fixed, but please let us know if you’re still having any issues or are seeing any errors and we can help from there.

Just a quick question. I need to activate Cloudflare now. I’ve set up a firewall rule which blocks xmlrpc.php but it allows the access to it if it comes from servers under AS number 2635.

Is that OK? Any things I need to take care of on the Cloudflare level in order for it to work with Jetpack?
