    Hello, how are you guys?

I noticed that the Google Site Kit plugin has introduced a consent mode option.

I use the CookiesYes plugin and the CookiesYes online APP with Google Consent Mode (GCM) enabled.

But what does this mean for Site Kit now? Do I need to activate consent mode in Site Kit as well?

This is the latest update from the plugin:

    https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/documentation/using-site-kit/consent-mode/

It is very important to note that this is the official Google plugin for integrating Analytics and Search Console.

So, one way or another, we can’t avoid using this plugin.

So, this is a list of what i need to know:

    1. If both of the plugins can work toghter with this mode? or i need to choose one of the plugins with active Google Consent Mode (GCM)?
    2. Its possible to disconnect from the CookiesYes online Application and host the banner locally on the website and use only Site Kit Google Consent Mode (GCM)? (the CDN banner is heavy in i prefer host the banner locally)
    3. What is the best practice in this situation?

    Hi @123nadav,

    Greetings from CookieYes!

The consent mode in Google Site Kit will only work once the CookieYes plugin is integrated with the WP Consent API. This integration is currently in progress and will be available in the next version.

In the meantime, please disable the consent mode option in the Google Site Kit plugin. After our next release, if you’d like to use consent mode in Google Site Kit, you can enable it after disabling the GCM option in the CookieYes plugin.

OK, sounds cool, but I still don’t understand something.

Will I be able to disconnect from the CookiesYes Online App and host the banner locally on my WordPress site (no CDN banner)? Also, can I activate consent mode in Google Site Kit and still be GDPR + GCM compliant?

I need to understand if this is actually possible because the CDN banner is hurting my website’s speed and effecting the ranking.

    Hi,

I am also interested in this.

    1) I still don’t get about this consent mode, really. And if the official plugin has an option for that, I also agree cookie banner plugins should work well and easily with the official plugin.

    2) Hosting the banner locally would improve page speed, because external connections always take more time. Or improve how the connections are done for a better performance.

    Hi @123nadav & @taisa1984,

You can now use the consent mode feature in the Google Site kit plugin with or without connecting our plugin to CookieYes.

Yes, I connected this with your new update:

There are still some things that need to be improved, but generally, it works fine.

Thank you, @cookieyesteam, for your help, and I also want to thank Claire from the email support.

I still have one issue regarding USA regulations that I’d like to ask about.

GDPR is much stronger than California regulations.

I need to know if this GCM currently complies with USA regulations as well (I believe it does).

However, I would appreciate it if you could look at:

and let me know if it’s okay for California clients as well.

    Regards,
    Nadav

    Hi @123nadav,

Since you are utilizing the GCM feature of the Google Site Kit plugin, it’s better to consult with them about how it works in different regions.
