When I click Settings in the warning the next page displays “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

When I click on Settings in the menu on the left and select the checkbox for “Enable logging for debugging purposes.” then go to debug logs this is displayed “We are not able to write to the /home/teamnjsoftball/public_html/wp-content/ctct-logs/constant-contact-errors.log file.”

    Thank you,
    Steve

Do you or anyone else who may be helping with this site know how to access the hosting server via FTP or so? The plugin isn’t managing to successfully create a file to write errors to, so we’re hopeful we can maybe get it manually created instead.

Sorry to post on your thread, but I have the same problem. I do have access to the server – what changes do I have to make?

    Thx,
    Sharon

Yes I have access to the website using dreamweaver or cpanel.

On a side note, the warning has disappeared but the “We are not able to write to the…” remains in debug

@chevyfixr We remove the admin notice once a site owner has visited the debugging page, but if a new error occurs again, then it’ll return again.

For both of you, we have two options in mind here.

    Option 1:
Log in to the server and create a server-writeable directory inside wp-content named ctct-logs and then a file in that directory named constant-contact-errors.log. Once those are created, verify that the original “We are not able to write…” error no longer shows when visiting the Debugging page again.

    Option 2:
Since we’re seeing this originally mentioned error with more frequency, we’re looking to move where we try to store logs to the uploads folder. Below I have a copy of the plugin linked to that has these logging changes in place. It would take over for your current copy of Constant Contact Forms, but you shouldn’t lose any created forms by doing so. If you go with this option, you’d want to get it uploaded and then visit the Support tab to turn off debugging briefly and then re-enable the setting to hopefully get the new location created and writable automatically for you.

Regardless of which option you pick, once things are finally set up and ready, it’d be a waiting game for something to potentially happen again. We’re not going to be able to determine the previous issue instances. We appreciate the willingness to help test things, if you choose option 2.

I chose option 2 and it is running

Did the message about inability to write go away thus far? Bonus points for checking the server via that cpanel or dreamweaver access to confirm that the file exists in the uploads folder.

I can’t explain it, but today I was able to get to my settings, the checkbox was already clicked, and once I saved that page again, the warning message went away. I don’t see anything strange in the debug log. Let me know if there’s something you would be looking for in there and I will take a look.

well that’s confusing and fun and intriguing all at once Sharon ??

We’d mostly be curious about spots that mention “API” and whatnot. If you’d prefer we look over the whole thing, then you can email it to [email protected] and cc [email protected] and someone involved with the development can look things over.

Yes it did and it’s box is blank now. I am assuming it’s blank because there is no error

Also the delete logs and download logs link are now visible

With it being just blank now, it’s waiting for something to be logged. Worth checking every now and then, but it doesn’t need to be anything like every hour on the hour or so. Maybe check it Monday, or at least the next time you see the admin notice show up again.

We’re hoping for all the signups to be successful though!
