• I forgot about the previous ridiculous replies I received to my initial review. I change my mind about this product. WordPress moderators should be more careful how they rely to customer support and review comments.

    This stays as a 1.

    Hi pamkaur14,

It’s always best to post something in the support forum for a plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/updraftplus in this case – before moving to give the worst possible review. In this case, you might like to know that when WordPress de-installs the plugin, it simply marks the plugin as inactive; no code from the plugin itself is run, and no database operations are attempted by the plugin. So, your database corruption must be coming from somewhere else.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,

Thanks for your input. As I mentioned above, the database corruption occurred both when I ‘deactivated’ UpdraftPlus AND when I ‘updated’ it.

I have deactivated and reactivated every single plugin I have installed on my WordPress site and I have not had a similar issue with anything else other than your plugin. I have never had my database corrupted or any other issues with my site other than when dealing with UpdraftPlus.

I think it would be more constructive for you to take on negative feedback and try to fix the problem rather than pushing the blame onto something else, as I have seen you do with other negative reviews as well.

After one attempt at using your support forum and having the topic I posted marked as resolved even before I could reply to it, I thought it better not to waste my time. I needed to fix the issue immediately and knowing fully well that it was Updraftplus that was causing my database corruption, I decided not to post another topic on your support forum as I probably would’ve gotten something to the effect of ‘contact us for paid support’ as you had done with the previous topic I posted. It was easier for me to just completely uninstall the plugin and give my feedback on it.

    Good luck.

Note: I use David’s plugin and upgraded to the commercial product. My reply still is valid and please read the whole thing.

Ha! No. Sorry, that reply is just plain incorrect. ??

David’s support in these free volunteer driven support forums has been exemplary. He’s neck and neck tied in a race with Tobias of TablePress fame for Best Plugin Support author of the Year?.

    If you mean this topic

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/problem-with-decrypting-db-file?replies=3

Why didn’t you reply back there? There are no magic cures for solving this sort of problem. Had you replied to that topic and worked with David then your review might be valid but you didn’t. Your one attempt at gaining support was a single post with no follow up. David’s reply there wasn’t off base and you could have worked with him to solve your problem

Leaving 1 star reviews is fine and readers can make their own judgements about a free plugin author. I am confident that your 1 star will be read in that light as well.

    Hi Jan,
