Added a footer of sorts. Not sure whether to leave , delete , or modify the border and background color beneath the menu. Also need to figure out why the painting (with the border around it) winds up in left field on this page:

Unable to get rid of the extra space between the category blogroll and Rebecca…particularly obvious on IE.
Getting a little punchy looking at this thing– comments & suggestions from a fresh perspective appreciated.

This has really come a long long way since your first layout scheme posted here.
Just as a stab – that gap before *Rebecca* looks like a blank link. You can delete it in Link Manager. That image that has got loose lower down is positioned outside its div container hence it has gone walkabout. Finally although you float your content left I cant see a clearer div. Might have missed it. Good luck & best wishes.

Root, thanks ever so much for your help and support!

I know that you are still developing so at the mo you have a fixed height in the #wrapper at 1200px. Thats fine till you get going but you should now be testing at the default of height: auto; it will all be clearer then. Live – of course – we have no way of knowing what our height will be. This is difficult if you are of an artistic bent and used to the predictable pixel positioning you get on a static site. ??

Hmmm, I see what you mean…my layout looks awful at height: auto– back to the drawing board. Also think I need to play around with an alternate style. Nobody is going to wait around while all my pretty images load when on a dial-up modum.
    Thanks.

Well why not install my template? Then you can forget CSS positioning and get on with what you like which is making it all look beautiful. My template is very easy to style. Enough already ??

Pretty much decided to do just that just before reading your note about it. It’s a done deal. Thanks.

Garden nothing– stoned out of town more likely. In the meantime, please don’t give up on me. Going underground for a few days. I’ll be back.

Well we will look forward to seeing you. *The CSS Veg patch* maybe?

    “Desparado” on board this address:
    https://www.dlaakso.com/weblog/root.html
    Known issues:
    1) Opera7x bug– clearer div does not collapse vertically.
    2) Gecko browsers– giant space between “Filled Under” and “General”
Working on another version that is quite simple, and does not violate the integrity of your original code; and another that is sort of off the wall…

Well from the basic css postioning view everything is fine. Those two things need minor tweaking only. It is v late here so I will have a look and google the css in the morning. What about the Root Vegetable CSS Garden?

No its not fine. I am now opening the JD. GGGrrrrrhhh.

I give up, what’s a “JD.” In my neck of the woods, “JD” is a Juvenile Delinquent– a teenage hood.
The Opera/Win *clearer* problem has been resolved. Whether this solution works for IE5/mac is unknown.
This remains among the least of my problems: Gecko browsers– giant space between “Filled Under” and “General”
Need criteria for the Root Vegetable CSS Garden.

Couple of shooters of that top shelf sour-mash, and I could conquer the world, and maybe even get this to work in IE:
    https://www.dlaakso.com/weblog/three.html
(actually only needs some minor adjustments, but its been a long day)
Could be done as fixed width layout, too…
    What’s your opinion?
