• After updating to Contact Form 7 5.4, I’m locked out of the backend of the website. Downgrading to 5.3 won’t allow my site to load at all — the front page just spins.

    There is no wpcf7_uploads folder in the uploads folder.

  • I’m guessing you’ve checked your folder permissions?

    What I did to get in was to rename the contact form 7 folder in the Siteground control panel file manager. Rename to something like contact-form-7_dis

    This will remove the error but your form will stop working. I’ve temporarily switched to WP Forms, as I only have one form on my site, until I have time to look into why CF7 is misbehaving.

    I have put a ticket in siteground to see if they can help me, at the moment they do not find the problem

    Thank you @les78

    I have done all of this but at the moment I’m unable to upload anything. Be it a plugin or a media file.

    Okay @rebellionnt1

    I’ll be on the look out for any update.

    Many thanks

    Hello everyone,

    I have good news, as a result of the ticket posted on siteground they have told me that they have updated the path to the upload directory of the web and the problems seem to be resolved.

    In fact I do not get any error and I have also tried to upload a file in the media library to perform the test and it uploads without errors, however I will ask what is the operation they have performed to solve it, I do not know what they have touched or what they have changed.

    The fact is that my problem is solved in that sense.

    Hi @rebellionnt1

    ???????????? Brilliant!

    I’m no longer seeing the warnings, however, I still can’t upload to the media library.

    Thanks

    hello

    Now my problem is that in the form when sending an email the appointment runs running if you send the mail but it does not show me any message of your email has been sent correctly, and if you are missing a mandatory field it does not say anything that the truth can happen.

    Hi @rebellionnt1

    What is going on? ??

    I was having the same problem with contact form 7 and also host with Siteground. The solution for me was that the ‘Store uploads in this folder’ setting under Settings > Media was incorrect. I simply deleted what was in there and hit save. I migrated the website from another host and guess this setting didn’t get updated. If you can’t access the dashboard, then just manually disable contact form 7 temporarily. I hope this helps others, sorry if it doesn’t work for you.

    For my part, I have half good news, they have updated the path to the web upload directory and the problems seem to be solved, but I don’t know what they did.

    Even so the contact form does not work correctly for me, the wp rocket plugin apparently does not generate the critical path of the css or preload the cache, so this generates that when sending the contact form to the user it does not appear that the message has been sent, the wheel stays running indefinitely, it doesn’t give an error if they don’t fill in any required field, I think I’m still having problems creating or with folders or files, since they updated the panel something has happened.

    My problem was the same as @samferguson.

    I’ve migrated this site a couple times and it had the settings of an old media uploads server path. Going into: “Settings” > “Media”: “Store uploads in this folder” was incorrect. Once changed to the correct current file path, the error went away.

    Running PHP 7.4.

    Hi @dkomando and @samferguson

    Same worked for me ??

    Many thanks ????

    Hi;
    Do any of you use the WP-Rocket plugin? and does anyone generate the critical css path with the plugin?
    I know it has nothing to do with contact form, but it is happening to me that this option at least remains generating for me and it does not finish doing it, finally it is removed but it does not make me generate anything, they tell me to talk to the developer of plugin and it seems to me that it is more of the same regarding the change of site tools.

    What do you think about it? someone with the same problem as me?

    Best Regards.

    So my hosting is also with SiteGround. I had the same error as well as unable to create directory uploads/2021/03. is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I thought I would try and solve the easier of the two problems first. Did this:

    Access your hosting file manager or FTP, and search for the wp-config.php file. It is commonly located in the root folder of your website (/public_html).
    The location of wp-config.php file
    Open the file and add the following code:
    define( ‘UPLOADS’, ‘wp-content/uploads’ );
    before this line:

    require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);
    Save the file. Now, try to upload your media files again.

    And voila, it fixed both problems at the same time. Hope this helps someone.
