I’ve configured WP Mail SMTP with the Gmail SMTP settings (via a G Suite account). The test email works fine, as do Woocommerce order notifications. However, with the WP Mail SMTP plugin active, my CF7 contact forms do not seem to send.

The form appears to submit/send successfully, but nothing arrives in the inbox.

I’ve searched through lots of support threads and a common CF7 issue seems to be that the ‘from’ address & ‘to’ address are the same – this is *not* the case with my forms. In my CF7 settings the ‘from’ address is set to [email protected], the ‘to’ address is [email protected] and the Reply-To header is set to the user’s email (whatever the user submitting the form enters as their email).

The from address in my WP Mail SMTP settings is also [email protected].

I can’t figure this one out!

    Hi @willkidger,

please perform this test: Set the “to” address in your CF7 form to another email address (one which is not using “mydomain.com”) and try submitting the contact form.

If this one works, this means that you’ll have to configure G-Suite to allow the emails being sent to “[email protected]”. Is this “[email protected]” email a Google Group email?

    Take care!

Hi @capuderg, thanks for the info.

Changing the ‘to’ address to a normal @gmail.com address worked.

Yes, the team@ email is a Google Group within G Suite. It’s used for other stuff and emails are received fine, whether from within the domain or external people – so I think it’s already configured to allow emails to the group?

    Hi @willkidger,

what about the notify@ email? Is that a normal Gsuite email account (or an alias)?

Can you send a normal email from this notify@ email to the team@ email? From your Gmail app.

You can also send a test email from notify@ to team@ in our plugin Email Test section. I know you said the test emails send fine, but I just wanted to know if you used the same from and to addresses.

If that works, then only thing you can test is removing the reply-to header and see if that is blocking the email delivery.

Let me know how it goes.

    Take care!

Hi @capuderg, @notify is an alias.

In the end, I signed up for Postmark and am using their plugin, it seems to work fine. Perhaps it was something to do with the Gmail SMTP side.
