• Hi,

I am using this plugin in conjunction with contact form 7.

It works fine for including the info in the email that is sent when the form submits.

But how do you use the shortcodes to pass the information within the form itself via hidden fields?

I can see how to use shortcodes that display dropdowns with country pre-selected etc. But I do not want them visible to the user as this complicates the form.

For example, the form would have three hidden tags that the user doesn’t see:

    Country
    City
    IP

These fields are pre-filled, and are passed to the database, or to a google sheet for example when the form is submitted.

I tried using [hidden tag but no joy?

    Thanks.

Hm – Yes the shortcodes currently only work in an E-Mail – I chose to implement it that way because when it’s a hidden field, it could in theory be modified by the user (well, most users won’t).

Oh, BTW, you need to mention that you are registering this kind of data and saving it at Google in your GDPR privacy policy – possibly even an opt-in checkbox, except if this information is necessary for fulfilling the contract etc.

So – yes I could implement it, but can you tell me more about your use case?

    Hi,

I suppose ideally it would be an uneditable field? There is a plugin called dynamic hidden fields that has a read-only option for a field but I couldn’t get it to work with yours.

My own use case is for some basic fraud detection. User fills out a form, and if they are from certain areas, then their applications are more heavily scrutinised. Many of them are likely to lie when there is a selection box.

We integrate CF7 with Zapier for some other automation. So it would be nice if we could pass certain values when the form is submitted.

Yes, you’d need to mention storage on google in the privacy policy.

    Thanks.
