Contact Form 7 incompatible with PHP 7.4

    Hi,

    I’m a big fan of your Contact Form 7 plugin. It’s great. However, I have noticed it is not compatible with the final version of PHP 7.4.

    Here’s some more information.
    – The entire website, with all plugins enabled, works perfectly on PHP 7.3. The moment I switch to PHP 7.4, the ‘feedback’ call of the forms return the following error:
    {"into":"#wpcf7-f886-p9-o1","status":"mail_failed","message":"Er is een fout opgetreden bij het versturen van het bericht. Probeer later nog een keer."}
    – Currently, I have the following plugins enabled: Akismet, Contact Form 7, Google Analytics Dashboard for WP, NextGEN Gallery, Shortpixel Image Optimizer, Swap Google Fonts Display, W3 Total Cache, WhatsApp Chat, WP-Optimize and Yoast SEO
    – I have already tried turning off the other plugins and only enabling yours. Doesn’t seem to do the trick, unfortunately. Switching back to PHP 7.3 seems to be the only remedy.

  • I also found that PHP 7.4.5 works. The previous 7.4.x builds were bad.

    Maybe it’s the php version I’m using 7.3 Asked server to upgrade to 7.4 now contact form fails to send email the form results.
    Any ideas?

    PHP 7.4 has several point versions 7.4.1 through 7.4.5. Earlier builds caused Contact Form 7 to fail due to a bug in php. Version 7.4.5 no longer has this issue, which I’ve been able to confirm after upgrading several servers to PHP 7.4.5; this was also confirmed in other WP forum threads.

    Until you’re able to run PHP 7.4.5 you’ll have to revert back to PHP 7.3.x.

    It might not be a php thing. That is to say, if you are running under php 7.4.5. or later. You should check that to be sure?

    I myself migrated recently from php 7.3 to 7.4.8. and all CF7 forms did what they were supposed to do: send the form!

    I suggest you should try to get help on the CF7-forum.

    Hi!
    CF7 5.2.1 on my wordpress theme causes an error “There has been a critical error on your website.” after update PHP to 7.4.8. When I deactivate the plugin – everything works.
