Contact Form 7 labels not showing

This contact form is in the primary widget area, on the right side of the page. When first loaded, the labels appeared above the fields just fine, but now they are gone. The “Browse” and “Send” buttons appear, but no other text.

The labels have apparently generated OK and are still active. They do appear when I preview the page in other themes with a primary widget space, where this contact form is loaded. They also appeared before I messed with some other stuff. But now they don’t.

I set the fonts to default for now, to make sure I had not created a conflict in the typography settings; still no joy.
