• Hi all

I know many of you will think this is another simple fix but from the support threads I’ve read I can’t work out what’s wrong.

So I’ve built a few websites now and have a Web designer who built a few before me. We use a theme created by him which I import to WordPress and then tweak using the Editor.

I’ve not been able to get 1 websites contact form 7 to work. The form appears on the page and sends but doesn’t go through to owners email.

When I asked my designer it takes him 5 minutes to resolve and it’s fixed.

I’ve checked against a new website and one he’s sorted but I can’t find the difference thats now making the form work. Obviously trying yo learn this so I can complete this task myself, at the moment not having much luck in him telling me what he does.

There are no SMTP data entered within WordPress once he’s made the final change (it may be within the PHPadmin on my host but yet to find anything)
The From box in Contact Form 7 Mail Settings shows the same as Site Title and a [email protected] (correct for each)

So I’m thinking it’s something to do within the PHPadmin of my hosting platform.

I’ve also read up on something about rest API but again not easily found anywhere nor do I properly know what I’m doing.

My host does use JSON if that helps as well.

Can anyone shed any light on what I need to look for or do? Really appreciate any help been wracking my brains on this for 4 weeks.

All form is set up, there must be a setting or backend code missing that is a simple fix as it takes someone else 5 mins to sort.

@steelermatt1 Apache SpamAssassin broke mine and the same day I updated to latest WordPress Version (5.7) which came out about 4 weeks ago. Did you update to latest WP version? Perhaps latest WP changed the way it sends via wp_mail(). I haven’t confirmed (would need to downgrade back to previous WP version) but turning off “Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on the Apache SpamAssassin? internal spam_score setting” resolved my Contact Form 7 sending. NOTE: I think it’s latest WordPress update (5.7) that broke it because my other plugins that use wp_mail() also stopped sending emails properly as well. Performing the above with SpamAssassin fixed those as well.
