  • Another hour on the phone with GoDaddy pleading my case. Stressed the fact that
    1. The issue is with delivery is intermittent some test get delivered while other don’t.
    2. It is happening on multiple domains
    3. It is happening with multiple plug-ins (Contact 7 and Custom Contact Form)
    4. Not happening on sites at a different host.

Was able to get them to finally start to run some additional tests and was successful in getting it escalated to to the next level of support. Now I need to wait too hear what if anything they find.

I will keep this thread posted with my results.

    Hey guys—

so i managed to get CF7 working… at least in my tests. 2/2 were delivered, however the 2nd one seemed to come thru after about, oh, an hour? this is still reasonably unacceptable as an email client shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to come thru the tubes at most.

additionally, these are only 2 tests that i’ve run. the other issues that i was having included some emails just being lost to the abyss.

Let us know what happens, RJDOUGAN. it is really unacceptable for godaddy to say ‘sorry. not our problem.’ if it used to work and if people aren’t having problems using other hosting providers.

Well, I’m glad that I found this post, as it seems that many of you are ahead of the game in looking into this issue.

I too have the same issue, using the same plugin (which I have used forever =)), latest version of wordpress, and yes, on GoDaddy host.

If I can add anything to this post I will let you all know. God I love the WordPress community. =)

@ninjo How did you get it working? Or did it just start working?

I spoke to GoDaddy (well actually Wild West Domain, but same thing)and he recommended to make sure were sending the emails to relay-hosting.secureserver.net .

I looked at the Contact Form 7 files, but not sure where to look to be sure to where to add this. I may have to wait until Monday and ask one of my developers.

Hey everybody – an update from me:

    1. I’ve installed the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/) as per Shazen’s suggestion. Doesn’t seem to make a difference.

I AM getting emails from Contact Form 7, but like ninjojo, it’s taking anywhere from 45-90 minutes to receive them.

    2. I looked at Mike’s suggestion of using his plugin, Fast Secure Contact Form (https://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/) but it doesn’t suit my needs. I need a contact form with lots of different fields, radio buttons, etc. That’s why I like Contact Form 7 – easy to use, but powerful.

    3. I had a look at Wufoo, and this might be a good alternative. I can’t really tell, but I think Shazen is right in that Wufoo will host the form over at their site. That doesn’t really matter to me, so I’m going to give this another look.

And finally, yes rjdougan – you seem to have gotten the furthest with GoDaddy tech support. Please let us know how it goes. I was on with them last night, and they were very friendly, but ultimately told me they couldn’t touch this problem since it’s a WordPress plugin, and doesn’t use their PHP Action Form Mailer.

    Cheers,
    Avery

@avery “I looked at Mike’s suggestion of using his plugin, Fast Secure Contact Form (https://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/) but it doesn’t suit my needs. I need a contact form with lots of different fields, radio buttons, etc.”

I just want to correct this, do not want misinformation…

You must have missed this feature:
All form field types are supported, as many as you need. You can add extra fields on the contact form edit settings page.
    How to add extra fields
    https://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/how-to-add-extra-fields

Sorry Mike – I did miss that. End of the week, and I’m tired.

I’ve installed your plugin and have sent test messages. Let’s see if they come in any faster than Contact Form 7.

Update on Fast Secure Contact Form – the good news is, it works. The bad news is, it takes as long as Contact Form 7 (actually, longer) to get the email.

Further evidence that this is a GoDaddy problem, not a problem with Contact Form 7 (or any other plugin).

AverySwartz, have you tried WP Mail SMTP‘s this setting?

Can I use this plugin to send email via Gmail / Google Apps

Yes. Use these settings: Mailer: SMTP SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com SMTP Port: 465 Encryption: SSL Authentication: Yes Username: your full gmail address Password: your mail password

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/faq/

Thanks for that Takayuki, but it’s not working. I plug in all those settings, with my gmail address and password, and then try the “test email”.

The test email doesn’t go through – I get an error:
‘SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111)’

    Any other thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Avery

I’m still using Contact Form 7, and am now receiving emails within 10 minutes of sending.

This is a low traffic time though (Saturday morning) so perhaps all of this nonsense was data overload, clogging over at GoDaddy?

I’m going to keep using Contact Form 7 because I really like it, and will monitor things for a while. Thanks everyone for your help, and good luck!

I continue to force GoDaddy’s hand. The first response I got Level 2 support yesterday was that there testing showed that the mail was being sent via the php script. To that my response was I know mail is being sent because sometimes the form does work and asked for further explanation as to why it does work all the time. I understand the latency in delivery is because they queue these email current traffic will determine the length of this latency. My current concern is that they are dropping some of the messages from the queue or that messages timeout in the queue.

    Good News!!!!
They are now looking for more information from me that includes headers from successful message, email addresses and a copy of the actual script in the plug-in. Does any one the actual file in Contact 7 that the mail script is located in – this would keep me from having to go through all the files that are part of the plug-in.

I will pull all this together this afternoon and forward back to them.

I am glad to see they are willing to continue to try and troubleshoot the problem. I will keep the thread posted.

rjdougan, Contact Form 7 uses wp_mail() to send mail in its includes/classes.php. Good luck.

Continue to make progress. The latest response from GoDaddy is:

“Due to its complex nature, your issue has been relayed to our Advanced Technical Support Team. Our most skilled technicians will be working to resolve your issue quickly and completely. You will be notified promptly upon resolution.”

Let’s see what they can do for us…..

@rjdougan Please let us know if you discover anything. You got way further than me with their support.
