Contact Form 7 not working with Mailchimp

    Hi Danny,

    First of all thank you for all your great work!!

    I have a WP multisite setup.
    Your plug-in is working fine with mailchimp, but I don’t want and have the time and coding capability and capacity to change all Contact Form 7-forms to your plug-in.

    So I’m trying since days … FAQs, forums etc. I gave up:
    I can’t get the contact form 7 to hook up with mailchimp. It just does its direct email thing after subscribing. I have your checkbox in the form (I want to make it invisible, but function first), please see screenshot https://snag.gy/ZBSqx.jpg, your form=working the original CF7 form underneath = no connection to mailchimp.

    What did I miss?

    Thanks for your help, I’m MORE than happy to donate or go pro if that connection works.

    Hi Bernhard,

    Do you have an URL to your site?

    The plugin will fail silently when integrating a checkbox with a third-party form as the main purpose of that form is not to subscribe the person to the MailChimp list. However, there are various ways to debug this.

    1. Make sure you’re logged in as a WP administrator.
    2. Disable JavaScript in your browser.
    3. Submit your Contact Form 7 form with the “subscribe” checkbox checked.

    A detailed error message should appear telling you what went wrong. My guess is that your list requires more fields than just EMAIL.

    You can tell the plugin to send additional fields to MailChimp by prefixing their names with mc4wp-, eg mc4wp-WEBSITE and mc4wp-NAME.

    Danny thanks a lot I made it work. it was the additional fields. Anyhow, I don’t get necessary functionality with CF7, my questions

    1) Is there a way to get it checked with CF7 if an email address is already signed-up in mailchimp? In your form it does, but thru CF7 I loose that (for me) important feature. What is does is it says “your subscription was submitted” (again), I get the CF7 confirmation-email (again), but it doesn’t trigger anything at mailchimp (because the email is already there, which makes sense, somehow)

    2) If I can’t solve issue 1) and have to drop CF7 and use your plug-in only, do I have to code the forms all by myself to be correct and responsive with the theme etc. … so far it looks plain and the responsiveness with the theme is simply non-existent.

    I would like to go pro with you, but I need confidence what I have to do, not willing to code ?? .. no time and not enough know how to make it in a decent time frame.

    Please advice, should I drop CF7?
