Contact Form 7 – prevent spam

I use the contact Form 7 and have searced the forum for some help about a way to avoid/minimize getting spam.
I’ve downloaded the Honeypot plugin, but it says on this page it’s only campatible up to 3.6.1 WordPress.
Do you suggest using another plugin? I’m a beginner in WordPress so I you have a step by step description, I would really appreciate it.
