    I’m using Contact Form 7 – version 4.9, and I’m having problems with my forms that use the Reply-to.
    It always worked before but it just stopped working.
    When I remove the Reply-To it works again.

    In the mail tab, I set on additional header the text: Reply-To: [email]

    My email tag is required, set as [email* email]

    What am I doing wrong?

    It doesn’t send the email and it gives an error message for the person.

    It gives a red error with Reply-To, and it sends normally if I remove it.
    I already checked the FAQ.
    I already tried the SMTP plugin.

    Hello and, first of all: Thanks a lot for that greatfull plugin! I use it in the version 5.0.1.

    This is my problem:
    In the field for additional headers (I’m using a German localization, so I didn’t know the English title) I put “Reply-To: [your e-mail]” and get a configuration error “Invalid mailbox syntax is used in the Reply-To field.” (Translated by Go****). I tried “Reply-To: [email* your-mail]” too, but after saving I still get this configuration error.

    Two funny things: The form works -created 5/13/2017- correctly, I can reply to [your e-mail] without any problems. And another form, created 7/21/2016, have “Reply-To: [your e-mail]” in the additional header-field and doesn’t mark a configuration error.

    So, it might be a cosmetical thing, but it’s a bit annoying so it would be great, if this is cleared. Thank you!

    The form works. The email sends. I receive it, but when I click reply, it sends to my email address instead of the user entered one. When I check the headers, I see the reply-to set to the user entered email. I have tried through gmail and outlook and the same thing happens.

    Reply-To: [your-email] is the correct syntax and never had problem with it until today!!

    Just one site started giving me this error. Checked the setup and changed it to Reply-To: <[your-email]> still shows the same error.

    It suggested I follow the instructions on Contact 7 website https://contactform7.com/configuration-errors/invalid-mailbox-syntax/

    Sorry Contact 7 guys this is just gibberish! Reply-To field cannot be a fixed email address as suggested by your website FAQ. We don’t know who is completing the form so this has to come from [your-email] field as it is a variable.

    This needs fixing and urgently as ore people will be seeing this insane error.

    I have had this same problem for years. I never understand why Themes come with Contact Form 7 as a required plugin.

    Reply-To: [your-email] in the additional headers has never worked for me it does not allow me to hit reply and respond to the person who filled out the form when the response come without having to address it manually. It always comes addressed back to the website email.

    I am having this same issue and it is really bad. There really has got to be a simple way to reply to the sender of an email in contact form 7. I have spent hours on this and can’t find anything that works.

    I finally got it so that when a user fills out the form and it sends to the appropriate email address, the owner can reply back to the user rather than reply to themselves.

    I think you just have to force the Additional Headers field in the Mail tab to accept the input of Reply-To: [your-email]. Just like mattrock1 above said.

    They seriously could have just fixed this, but all of the sudden in using that exact line of code it worked. I had thought it was a version issue as I had no problem getting the reply to work in version 4.4.2. I thought it was in version 5.0.3 where the problem lied, but now I am not so sure.

    Also having the same problem. How do force the Additional Headers field in the Mail tab to accept the input of Reply-To: [your-email]? Or How do you fix the caching problem?

    @lanipic Please note this trail is mixed up! There are 2 issues here:

    1. Customer Email which is a variable field for each enquiry as the person filling the form complete this field and every entry will be different – This is covered under [your-email] field

    2. Enquiry form not generating an email to warn the website owner of an enquiry of form completion.

    It is important to distinguish which is the problem you are facing.

    In the case of problem number 2, namely if you are not receiving forms from your website, you need to check if your hosting company allows WordPress to use PHP process to send an email from the website on your behalf. Some hosting companies do not allow you to do this (1&1 being an example).

    This means you have to use Plugins that “Easy WP SMTP” to emulate an email agent so the email is sent directly from your mail server and not your website.

    In case of 1, I have just ignored the warning and it works fine. The error also no longer shows up since the version 5.0.3 although watch this one. When you upgrade some of your form email fields disappear and you have to reconfigure your “Mail” tab again (doesn’t happen in all cases, but sometimes it does!)

    It seems I am being included in all contact forum 7 fourms even if I havent engaged. I did send one enquiry yesterday but have been included in all since then, can someone advise on this situation, thanks
