    Hi all,

    I attempted to update from V 5.1.4 to V 5.1.5 but the update failed.

    Update Failed: Could not create directory.

    I saw on another forum that a person recommended deleting a folder and uploading the plugin again, but no response as to whether that worked:

    “Delete the plugin folder at wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/ using FTP (don’t use Delete option on Plugins page as this may erase all CF7 forms) and install the plugin again.”

    Question 1: Would this work?

    Question 2: I can open the contact-form-7 folder in FTP, and I see several files inside. Are they saying to delete the whole folder “contact-form-7”, or is there an item within that folder that should be deleted?

    Question 3: Would this process preserve my CF7 forms?

    Any hints are appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Note: Forms on the site have not been working properly, even before attempting the update. Hm. Could this problem contribute to the plugin update failing? Or could the v5.1.4 plugin be contributing to the forms cycling forever after clicking send?

    @takayukister thanks for your reply.

    The error message when the update failed was generic, and did not specifically state that the site was out of space, which let me to speculate that the new release of CF7 had issues.

    I contacted my hosting provider, who discovered that the site had reached its storage limit, which was preventing the plugin from updating. This might have contributed to the issue with using CF7 on the site, I think.

    After deleting some unnecessary backups, the update was successful.
