• Hello –

I am using version 3.6.1. The contact form responds as “Message was sent successfully” but never reaches the destination email. I have checked all spam folders and tested on multiple hosting providers with no luck.

I have also rolled back to the previous version of the plugin and get the same result.

Here is the opening form tag. Looks ok to me:

    <form action="/contact/#wpcf7-f4-p16-o1" method="post" class="wpcf7-form" novalidate="novalidate">

    Any ideas?

    Thanks so much

    Matt

  • I am having the same problem

Though the plugin successfully sends millions of emails every day, there are a host of issues that can stop or delay emails on both the sending and receiving ends. It depends entirely on your local Server & WordPress configuration.

You will need to investigate this issue for your particular local configuration. See Contact Form 7 Email Issues.

    buzztone-

as I said before I tested on multiple hosting providers, the email is correct, and its not being dumped into spam. Thanks for letting me know the success stats – that helps.

thanks for the link – somewhat helpful aside from the condescending tone:

“CF7 is frequently reported as not working in the WordPress Forums (particularly by users with limited WordPress skill and experience)”

I might recommend spending $29 for Gravity Forms. A fantastic premium plugin with great support!

@mshane8 – Please include a link to your Contact Form 7 form. If others here are able to understand your actual problem, they may be able and willing to offer a possible solution.

the email address the form is sent to is an actual email address – not a forwarding address. I am using WP 3.7.1 and CF 3.6.

As I stated before I tried rolling back the CF to the previous version and have tested it on multiple hosting providers as well as locally on my dev server. All with the same result.

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.

Just tested your form and WP email appears to be functioning correctly.

Please include all your input in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface.

Rolling back is unlikely to be necessary. The plugin is working for me on many different websites and several different servers.

yes – as I stated initially it appears to be working correctly but the completed form/email is never delivered to the destination address.

I always make sure to fill out every section in the CF7 interface.

If you give me a copy of the info YOU are using in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface, I can look for some particular problems like Email Authentication.

great thank you – how do you propose I get this information to you if I cant upload images?

RE: how do you propose I get this information to you if I cant upload images?

Many people just paste the relevant sections as code here.

For example the info from the default CF7 form looks like this:

    FORM:

    <p>Your Name (required)<br />
        [text* your-name] </p>
    <p>Your Email (required)<br />
        [email* your-email] </p>
    <p>Subject<br />
        [text your-subject] </p>
    <p>Your Message<br />
        [textarea your-message] </p>
    <p>[submit "Send"]</p>

    MAIL:

    To:
    [email protected]
    From:
    [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Subject:
    [your-subject]

    MESSAGE BODY:

    From: [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Subject: [your-subject]
    Message Body:
    [your-message]

This mail is sent via contact form on Tiffany Berube www.tiffanyberube.com

The shortcode to call the form on the page is :

    [contact-form-7 id="4" title="Contact form 1"]

That is the entire set up on the backend.

    Thanks

Your Form & Mail content looks very normal – simple basic CF7 form.

FROM: [your-name] <[your-email]> is a potential problem but I don’t believe that is an issue in this case.

The From: address used in the Mail section of the CF7 interface can be important in determining if an email is able to be sent via the CF7 plugin. Some hosting requires that any emails being sent via WordPress are from a valid email address on your local domain.

Importantly when I tested your form it appears to send the email without any issues. I got the “Your message was sent successfully. Thanks.”, in a green box, which is a very clear indication that the email was sent sucessfully from your WP install.

So the most likely remaining issue is that your email is being treated as spam. Your email message may be simply discarded as malicious.

Have you tried sending to any email addresses other than [email protected]?

My form will not send to my email. Below is what I have in the form section. Does there appear to be anything wrong with it that would prevent it from sending?
