Contact Form stopped sending mail normally (since the last update?)
The most disconcerting thing is that sometimes it sends one !!! But usually nothing happens.
What can I do to check what’s going on?

  • Hey @webpart,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with email delivery.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can check that your form notification settings are configured correctly by following our tutorial.

If your notification settings are correct, the issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent directly from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.

To resolve email delivery issues like this, you can configure a SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    I hope this helps ??

Everything seems to be set up fine.
By the way, emails were sent without problems until recently!

We have configured the WP Mail SMTP plugin where everything is also well configured.
From this plugin we send test email and it is sent correctly.

What can I check to find out why emails are no longer being sent from the Contact Form?

Hey @webpart – Thanks for following on this ticket!

When you have some time, can you please enable debug Email sending option under WP Mail SMTP > Tools > Debug Events? Once enabled, please try submitting the form again and let me know if any error message gets recorded.

    Kindly,

I did according to your instructions and only one event was registered:

Hey @webpart – Thanks for sharing the debug details, and looking at the Content it seems that the notification email was sent. When you have some time, can you please share the mailer that you’re using in WP Mail SMTP?

    Kindly,

    Hi @webpart

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

Emails are sent to the host smtp.ptempresas.pt (with TLS encryption).
I analyzed the logs on our Check Point context firewall and I verified that all emails go out without problems.

So it looks like emails sent from the Form are rejected !!!
    I wonder why?
    DMARC rejection ?

I remember that the test email sent from WP Mail SMTP arrives correctly at the destination.

Hey @webpart – It might be a possibility, that said since you’re using a custom mailer, I’d suggest you to please check with the provider and they should be able to assist you with the issue you’re facing with the email delivery.

    Kindly,

    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Facts:</span>

    • We have several applications using the same mailer with identical configurations working correctly;
    • The test mail sent by WP Mail SMTP is correctly sent.
    • We tried changing the settings for other mailers (Office365/Gmail) and the behavior remains – the mail sent from the form does not reach the recipient and the test mail arrives.

    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Questions:</span>

    • What are the differences between the test mail and the one sent by the form?
    • Does the form support the TLS 1.2 protocol?

Hey @webpart – Thanks for following on this ticket!

The WP Mail SMTP test email helps to ensure that your settings are configured correctly and that all your emails will be delivered successfully. That said, the form notification email is slightly different wherein the notification settings are not configured properly may cause delivery issues.

That said, the WP Mail SMTP plugin doesn’t use any specific TLS version. TLS is a protocol used to establish a secure connection between servers. That means our plugin just announces that it wants to use TLS encryption, and it’s up to your server to use a specific version of it.

So basically, you don’t have to do anything, and it will automatically use the latest version of TLS that is installed on your server to create the connection.

When you have sometime, can you please share the export copy of the form so I can check the notification settings?

Hey @webpart – Thanks for following on this ticket!

When you get chance, can you please use a file sharing tool like Google Drive > upload the file and share the URL as that will help me to import the form and look at the notification settings?

It’s easier to send as an attachment to an email.
The size is so small (2Kb).
What email can I send it to?

Hey @webpart – Thanks for following on this ticket!

I apologize, we’re not allowed to share the email address on www.ads-software.com plugin forum. When you have sometime, can you please use an online file sharing tools to share the export form file?
