    Hi there,

The latest update changed the required field error message of the contact form to a tooltip, for some reason this tooltip isn’t in English but in German for me.

My website is in English so that’s a bit weird. I already tried changing my browser language and even a VPN but it stays German.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

We indeed added required and aria-required attributes to the contact form in Jetpack 3.2 (ref). These attributes make the form more accessible by making the error messages accessible to screen readers.

That also means that your browser is now in charge of displaying all error messages. The language is then defined by your browser.
I believe each browser handles languages differently, but if you post a link to your contact form, I’d be happy to run a few tests to find out more.

Weird, with Safari it’s not a Tooltip but actual text/error message above the content (in the correct language though…).

I guess I should just trust it then…

Each browser has indeed a different way to handle error messages. You can rest assured, though: this change actually makes the error messages displayed in more browsers than before. Screen readers like JAWS, or Mac’s Voice Over, now handle the forms a bit better.
