Contact form7 with a reCaptcha v3 does not work reliable

  • Plugin is not reliable because of changing reCaptcha v2 to reCaptcha v3.
    ReCaptcha v3 isn’t reliable. There is not possible to submit form, because reCAPTCHA v3 says: error: reCAPTCHA v3 test failed.

    Sometimes it is possible to sent form, but often it isn’t possible. After testing it, 10 forms were submitted and 20 forms not. Now I’m trying to sumbit form, but it is not possible.

    I can’t risk, that clients can’t write me. Moving to reCaptcha v3 should be optionable but not obligatory. Plugin is now unusable. Who wants website, which sometimes works and sometimes not?

    If your website does not work, you see problem. You can solve it. But when you are using this plugin, you doesn’t see problem. Website looks like pretty. But when are you clients trying to contact you, it is not possible. So you are loosing money.

    This plugin is free, but with this problem is very, very dangerous and expensive.

    I don’t know why the author decided to exclude reCAPTCHA v2 (since CF7 v5.1 reCAPTCHA v2 was replace for v3), but I hope this known issues make him consider include reCAPTCHA v2 againg. However there is an easy way to restore reCaptcha v2 in the latest version:

    1. Update CF7 to the lastest version
    2. Download CF7 v5.0.5.
    3. Replace the recaptcha.php file of your WordPress installation located in “[plugin directory]/contact-form-7/modules/” with the file with the same name of the v5.0.5 package you downloaded in the step 1.
    4. In the dashboad, navigate into to Contact > Integration, and choose “Configure Keys” in the “reCAPTCHA” section. If you already have configured the keys, verify those keys are for the v2 (if you don’t see reCAPTCHA in the frontend, you have the v3). To fix it, register a new site with reCAPTCHA v2 and then back to Contact > Integration and choose “Reset keys”, write the new keys and save. You should see reCAPTCHA working on frontend.

    thank you @yordansoares I found solution some days before. I described it on my blog: https://petrnosek.cz/wordpress-formulare-a-plugin-contact-form-7-recaptcha-v2/

    but it is in czech language.

    For quick explanation, there is plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpcf7-recaptcha/ which adds recaptcha v2 to latest CF7.
