• Is the use of URL parameters in links to our contact page an SEO problem?

CF7 has long had the ability to populate fields from the value of URL parameters. See:
    https://contactform7.com/getting-default-values-from-the-context/

This makes it possible to create multiple links to the same contact form from different contexts, and have the context pre-populate fields in the form.

Recently, our SEO guru informed me that we should not use URL parameters because they dilute the value of the page, and risk “duplicate content” penalties.

I also thought that Google had simply gotten smarter about understanding URL parameters, and that this was not really an issue anymore (March 2022):

I’d love to hear opinions from people who use CF7 contact page links with (or without!) parameters, and whether it is worth foregoing the advantages of using them because of SEO concerns.

Is it ever okay to use them for this purpose, or should we avoid them like the plague?
