Contango Theme adding image to front page

  • Hello all,
    Take a look at my site, havingsaidthat.net, I have just been getting my site up and running again and this is a new theme to me, and for some reason, on select posts it is creating/pulling a featured image and randomly placing it on the front page.
    If you click through, the image is gone, any ideas what might be causing this and how to get rid of it?
    Also, anyone know how to get rid of the big date heading?
