It seems at some point in these last months I am getting a lot of “?” and “?” characters in the <p> content area. The rest shows up entirely fine. I did not previously have this, but now do. I’m clueless as to what is at the root of the problem. I realize it may have nothing to do with the plugin itself.

    Thanks,
    James

Have you possibly changed hosts at the point you started seeing this change? Processing the full RSS feed is a fairly intense process, and works best on a host with the mbstring package installed, or iconv as a second option. Funky characters appearing in a processed feed are usually due to a hosting configuration issue, so I would suggest asking your host about mbstring.

Otherwise, I would need to see the site/feed in question to make any guesses about what’s going on.

“Have you possibly changed hosts at the point you started seeing this change?” – Yes, that is correct.

What you put is very helpful to know, “so I would suggest asking your host about mbstring.” Thanks!

Just an update, they did install mbstring and it fixed the issue.
