    Hi,

How can you limit the single page content length? So you limit it to say 500 words and then send them to the original author site via a link? As is, it posted the entire article.

    Thanks

Well I found the hook ‘Adjust the number of characters to be extracted from every feed’ and it worked perfectly.

One other issue I have is that I have it to post to a certain category and it does that but it also post the ‘general’ category. Any idea why?

Also one more question. If i add a url to a image for the featured image from our media library, the resulting image is huge. But the same image by using the #item_image tag in featured image is perfect.

    Hi @sam69,

Thank you for using FEEDZY RSS Feeds plugin.

Feedzy does not assign the default category if you select some category to assign to the import posts unless you renamed the default category from ‘uncategorized’ and also changed the ID of that category and it’s no longer ID 1.

It’s recommended practice to use the same default category and rename it if needed but do not make another category with a different name that you created as the default category as Feedzy cannot exclude them from being attached to the posts.

Please share a screenshot to show us the difference between images and share the image URL so we can try to replicate the issue.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks for reply. In Feedzy i set it to post in a certain category which it does but it also posts in a ‘general’ category which has a ID of 2. The ‘uncategorized’ category is there still with an ID of 1. So not sure why it is doing this.
(Update: ok I think i found the issue in WordPress settings so this part is sorted)

For the images, i’m checking the theme for issues and will get back to you. But it weird how it’s acting.

Ok so if I create a post manually and assign an image as featured image then it works with theme. If I use the Feedzy #item_image tag in featured image then it works perfectly but if i enter the url to a image in the media folder then the item does not show up in the featured image area of the post and image is not resized on blog page.

also checked with browser developer tools and when using the url of an image it does not get posted as a featured image.

    Hi @sam69!

Could you please provide us some screenshots where the difference in the size of the featured images can be seen? Also, please provide us the URL to that image so we can test it on our instances and try to replicate this issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Not sure how to attach screenshots here but the image used is:
    https://s.w.org/style/images/about/WordPress-logotype-alternative.png

If i save this image to the wordpress media folder and then use that url for the feed then the image comes out very big and does not get set as a feature image.

    Btw, theme used is Flatsome.

    Thanks

    Hi @sam69,

Thanks for providing the image link!

I checked on my instance with Neve and Twenty Twenty themes and if I set that image as featured image using its URL, it is properly displayed on both the blog and single post pages. From what I can see, Flatsome is a premium theme, so unfortunately we can’t test it with Feedzy to check for a possible conflict. You could try to address this issue to the theme authors, maybe they could help in this matter.

    Have a nice day!

Thanks. There is something strange as it doesn’t even get set as a feature image. I can see the theme displaying it incorrectly etc but the fact that it is not attaching it as a featured image is the issue also. I may just have to give on this.

Ok I found the issue. Decided to try one last thing and it worked ??

The setting ‘EXTERNAL IMAGE (map content-advanced options) Use external image URL, Ignore feature post thumbnail’ was causing the issue. It was on but once I turned it off the images were now perfect with the url.

    Hi @sam69,

We’re glad to hear you solved the issue in the meantime! Thanks for letting us know!

Adding to this so you can see previous issue in case it’s related. But all working ok now but i just checked the wordpress media library and because i set the image link to a image in our media library, the image is getting saved over and over with each post posted again in our media library. Shouldn’t the plugin realize that the featured image url being used is from our site?

As per my message above, the EXTERNAL IMAGE setting had to be turned off to resolve the previous issue so can’t use that.

    Hello @sam69,

Sorry for the delayed reply, We have recently fixed a bug that was related to the External image feature (under Advanced option settings) in the latest update(V4.0.3) of Feedzy.

Now if you will even turn on the External image feature and use the image link for the featured image the images won’t be disturbed on the posts page. That way the plugin won’t have to save the same image in the media library. Please update the plugin and check if the problem is resolved or not.

I hope this information helps you.
    Thanks.
