Content limit

    Is there a way to limit the content length to a certain number when including content? I don’t want to have to add excerpts to all posts.

    Also don’t want to have to add a read more link…if possible, I’d like to pull limited amount of content the way Genesis allows for content archives.

    What you’re describing is an excerpt. You don’t have to provide a manual excerpt to all posts. If no manual excerpt is provided, WordPress generates one from the first words in the post.

    [display-posts include_excerpt=”true”]

    If you’re not happy with your theme’s settings for the word limit or read more text, you can use the Display Posts parameters to build a different excerpt.

    [display-posts include_excerpt=”true” excerpt_length=”20″ excerpt_more=”…Read More” excerpt_more_link=”true”]

    If you don’t want a read more link:

    [display-posts include_excerpt=”true” excerpt_length=”20″]

    Thank you! For some reason WordPress is not generating the excerpt for me. It does work if I manually type in an excerpt on the post.
