Content Permissions not saving

    I have the Content Permissions feature enabled. When I try to remove the Roles selected in the Content Permissions box on a specific page, it does not save the changes. E.g. If I select Admin and Author and save the page, it correctly saves the access to the selected Roles. However, if I UNCHECK the Admin and/or Author Role is does not save the changes and both remain checked. I can’t change or remove the Content Permissions on a page.

    I’ve confirmed this on WP 5.5.1 with default theme and no other plugins installed.

  • We are having the same issue and it looks like a bug introduced in the last version of the plugin. In our case we noticed the Content Permissions box appears twice on the page and if we only uncheck a role in one of them and leave it checked in the other obviously the role isn’t removed. Also Content Permissions appears twice under Screen Options.

    We too have this issue for one of our websites. We find that we can’t deny Taxonomies for certain sections as it keeps reverting to ‘Grant’ instead of ‘Deny’.

    Thank you for reporting this issue.

    We introduced a second Content Permissions box in Members 3.1.0, but it appears that you can’t save changes if permissions are different in one of the boxes. Currently, the only workaround is to keep all permissions in both boxes the same and then save changes. I’ve delegated this to our Developer so we’ll try to fix it as soon as possible. Sorry about that.

    Hi @caseproof and thanks for the extra information.
    For us however i cant see a secondary box to double fill the data when i am in Members > Roles > Selected User > Taxonomies

    Is this the same bug that everyone else is having or is it different?

    I can’t reproduce this issue on my side. I can check “Deny” section for capabilities and it stays the same when I refresh the Edit Role page.
    Can you double-check that this is not some plugin conflict? Please deactivate all your plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate all plugins one by one to see which one causes that issue.
