• I have a wordpress installation that is being hosted with webhostgiant. I noticed recently when I make changes to my website and I click ‘update’ it doesn’t update content. today I downloaded a file contact.php and i made some modifications to it but when i uploaded the changes weren’t there. is it an issue with wordpress or the hosting company? thanks.

  • Be sure that you have cleared all caches, both from plugins in your site and your local pc.

thanks for the feedback. I know how to clear cache on my browser but how to do it from plugins?

Are you using any cache-related plugins, like WP Super Cache, or W3 Total Cache? If not, you should not have any cache from plugins.

no, I’m not using any of those. I have never experienced anything like this. that’s why I’m wondering ‘could be an issue with the web hosting company?’

I’m sorry, but I overlooked part of your original post.

You said you downloaded contact.php, changed it, then uploaded. If you download again, are the changes gone? If so, it is not a cache issue at all.

In that case, you should check with tech support at your hosting service.

what I mean is I downloaded contact.php file made some changes, reupload but I’m still getting the old version. that’s the scary part. it’s not updating! I’ve had issues like that for a while. I make changes to content, update, preview, old content. one client just told me there was no phone number on my site. I remember putting it there, then it was gone. how reliable is that?

So, the changes are still there if you download it again, but the site display does not change?

I am out of ideas on that one.
