enclosing shortcodes

Hello,
is it possible to somehow put content enclosed by shortcode as a variable?

Example:
Use in post:

[shortcode]
some content
bla bla bla
even more content
[/shortcode]

Use in shortcode editor:

<div style='background-color: red'>
{content}
</div>

If not, it would be great if such a functionality would be added…
